JP Custom Smoke team had a great year in 2006. With their 4 ft. smoker from Southern Yankee Bar-B-Q, they competed in 10 contests this year.

Then they went to Manhattan, KS and placed 10th overall. They took 8th in ribs and 9th in Pork.

Then they were off to Oklahoma Joes Contest in KC and took 2nd in Chicken wings.

Next up was Augusta Ks and ranked overall 4th. Placed 8th in chicken, 4th in ribs, 1st in Pork and 3rd in brisket.

Then they did a contest in Wichita, the South Central Kansas Masters and took 7th place overall. They placed 9th in ribs, 8th in pork and 1st in brisket.

Then they went to Anthony Downs BBQ in Anthony Ks and placed 5th overall. Taking 9th in chicken, 8th in pork, 3rd in brisket and 8th in ribs.

Then they competed in Florence Labor Day BBQ and won their 1st GRAND CHAMPION with a hefty payout of $3,000.00. They placed 2nd in chicken, 4th in pork and 3rd in brisket....it was a qualifier for the Royal and for the drawing for the Jack in 2007.

After that they competed in Park City Ks and won back to back GRAND CHAMPIONS. Placed 10th in chicken, 5th in ribs, 1st in pork and 6th in brisket.

Then they headed to the American Royal BBQ in KC and competed in the OPEN event. They placed 16th overall with nearly 500 teams competing. Took 8th in brisket and 13th in sausage.

After all that, they still didnt have enough competing so they were offt to Stillwater OK for the pig event. They place 4th overall, taking 2nd in chicken, 7th in ribs and 8th in brisket....

Needless to say they have had a GREAT YEAR and say they owe alot of the credit to Southern Yankee Smokers.
